From the Juror, Amy Hollan:
Wow, was this show hard to judge! There were so many amazing entries that it was difficult to make final selections and it warmed my heart to see the special relationship we enjoy with animals captured in art. Best in Show winner, Lookin’ At Mom by Denise Peterson, captures the moment of anticipation of playtime and affection in this stunning oil on canvas portrait. This well-executed portrait is a perfect representation of STCEA’s mission to do good in the world through art, as 100% of the show’s proceeds benefit the Chautauqua County Humane Society in Jamestown, NY.
Award of Distinction winners for their creativity and artistic merit include Susan Wehrman for the strikingly detailed illustration Basking, Daniele Jones for the powerful and spirit inspiring Wild: ThunderstormWildfire, and Michele Pokorny for the fun and imaginative cow portrait The Food We Eat.
