Alfonso Apodaca III is a distinguished artist who has more than 30 years of experience in art and illustration.
“I want to feel a resonance with my art, so that’s exactly the kind of response I hope to get when a viewer looks at my work. For me, art making is about exploring an endless series of WHAT Ifs and WHAT DO I SEE in my MIND’S EYE. A blank canvas represents limitless possibilities.
“My artwork is inspired by the journey I make with my history and observation of visual images, colors and shapes, and ultimately through all of that, I produce the finished piece. The journey of the artist, and the story of that piece, I express through keen observation and execution alike. The ability to translate what I see into a painting is a talent I feel lucky to have and one I’m happy to share.”
Alfonso makes paintings and uses different mediums. Often, his medium of choice is dependent upon how he feels. Whether its graphite, charcoal, oils, acrylics or spray paint, he is able to share a piece of himself and a glimpse into his soul with every piece of art he creates.
“Whether viewers are looking at an abstract painting or a representational picture, I hope they can see that my art respects technique and artistic traditions. But I also hope that the beauty and depth of everything I make is unique to me and to my piece of art. Art is right for you when it speaks to you—and affects your spirit.”
